Microsoft bought Nokia Mobile division for $7.2bil; Newkia seeks revenge 3

As many of us were surprised, Microsoft’s silent deal with Nokia was sealed at $7.2 billion, and that’s a hefty sum of RM23.97 billion. The deal itself means Microsoft now owns all of Nokia’s mobile patents and also the entire mobile division.

Many of us – including me – were sad to know that Microsoft’s reign of chaos has befallen upon Nokia, partly due to a great controversy over who’s in charge of Nokia. Stephen Elop – the current CEO of Nokia, came from Microsoft and that most definitely made everything seem fishy (*cough* Trojan *cough*).

Elop says that he will retire as the CEO of Nokia and will become Executive Vice President until the acquisition is complete, which Elop will then be transferred back to Microsoft with the same post.

We all loved Nokia, and now it gave me in particular, more reasons to not love it anymore. As we all do have that Nokia-envy, one veteran from the old Nokia came out and said “I’m going to bring the old Nokia back!” by using the name Newkia. Focusing particularly on Android devices, the Nokia veteran Thomas Zilliacus is seeking to hire other Nokia veterans to make Android Nokia phones. That’s what we want, don’t we?
