The new Galaxy Z Flip3 comes with a variety of more noticeable upgrades compared to its bigger brother, the Galaxy Z Fold3. So, let’s run through some of the new upgrades that you can enjoy on this new flip phone.

1. Flipping out a 120Hz screen
This isn’t something that I personally care about – a higher refresh rate is something nice to have but it’s definitely not a necessity. But it is still nice for Samsung to finally up the ante and equip the Galaxy Z Flip3 with a 120Hz screen.
It’s quite a refreshing experience since the Galaxy Z Flip3 does have a very long display – and scrolling through pages from top to bottom with its fluid 120Hz refresh rate feels… pleasant.
2. New pre-installed screen protector
Just like the Galaxy Z Fold3, it is now using a new material on top of the ultra-thin glass material, called PET. It’s clear, sturdy, and lightweight. Gliding my fingers on the Galaxy Z Flip3 feels nice – and that goes hand-in-hand with the 120Hz refresh rate too.
3. This is also IPX8-rated
Yeah – if you ever chucked your Galaxy Z Flip3 into the water or need to take a call while taking a shower, just know that it is now possible with the Galaxy Z Flip3.
It’s still amazing that this generation of foldable devices is actually IPX8-rated. How does it actually survive the water??
4. Bigger, customizable cover display
This is one of the biggest complaints that everyone had with the original Galaxy Z Flip from last year. There were too much unutilized space and that cover display was just way too small to be usable.
So, Samsung fitted in a big 1.9-inch Super AMOLED screen. On top of that, the cover display can also be customized to show your own pictures in conjunction with some important information like time, date, battery level, and even notifications!
Yes, we can now read notifications on the Galaxy Z Flip3’s cover screen – and it’s glorious.
5. Available in 7 different colors!
One thing that I really want to highlight is the number of different colors that the Galaxy Z Flip3 is now available to choose from. We have:
- Cream (the one we have)
- Phantom Black
- Phantom Green
- Lavender
And then, there are 3 more colors that are only available exclusively on Samsung.com
- Grey
- White
- Pink
