Sony really is not going to stop innovating when it comes to home entertainment system. The breakthrough of gaming console with the Sony PlayStation is not evolved to handhelds and now to a very small sized set-top box.
The PS Vita TV is about the width and length of the PlayStation controller size, and it plays Vita, PSP and also PS1 games, as it has the similar specs as the handheld PS Vita does. However, Sony explicitly stated that the Vita TV doesn’t support all Vita games.
As for now, the PS Vita supports Japan-exclusive video services such as Nico Nico Douga, Sony’s very own Video Unlimited, Tsutaya TV and also having some apps such as LiveTweet Twitter client and also an eBook reader software.
The Sony Vita TV can also act as a re-router for your PlayStation 4’s output, as it can be linked to another television when the connected TV is in use.
The PS Vita TV costs ¥14,280, approximately RM472.15, which definitely is a great deal if you’re seeking to watch shows and play some Vita or PSP games at home. One thing that is for sure though – you have no Hulu or Netflix or anything similar in Malaysia. Oh, demographics.
The Verge stated that the Vita will indeed pose a threat to the Apple TV, but the Apple TV never really did perform well in the Malaysian market… I doubt that the Vita TV will perform well too.
