Buying a brand new tech gadget is often the choice to go for due to longevity and quality factors but with each of them being made, they may become an e-waste way earlier than you might think but all of these can be changed, through Reebelo’s effort.

Some of you might have known that e-waste is currently one of the toughest things to tackle aside from plastic yet not because of the e-waste’s inherently hard to decompose nature but more of the commitment level problem where according to data compiled by our Malaysia government, only 25% of them are recycled. To prevent or at least slow down the detrimental process of our lovely country’s natural landscape and resources, Reebelo is taking a big step as one of the organizations openly engaging in the recycling activity.

Reebelo’s main way of tackling the issue is to promote a new way of buying/selling refurbished tech goodies like smartphones, tablets, and notebooks, among others, at an affordable rate to ultimately strengthen Malaysia’s circular economy. How do they source these things in the first place? Through their latest program of buying old and unused devices from consumers and refurbish them through certified companies, of course. By doing this, Reebelo is hoping that they could save 60 tonnes of accumulated e-waste by the end of next year, one device at a time.

The marketplace platform also formed a partnership with One Tree Planted who is dedicated to environmental planting by ensuring 1 tree is planted for each purchase made on Reebelo’s platform. Tackling 2 problems at once for greater effectiveness and efficiency? Personally, I’d take that any day.
