Dell Technologies has classified the irony of such phenomenon under 3 “paradoxes”. The 1st one is the Perception Paradox, where 2/3 of respondents stated that data is the lifeblood of their organization yet only a little over 20% can confidently say that they are properly utilizing data to progress their business.

The 2nd paradox is the “Want More Than They Can Handle” where 73% of businesses are gathering data so fast that they are unable to handle the demand of analyzing and utilizing them but 69% of them say still need more than their current capabilities. This has shown that businesses are under constant pressure to embrace digital transformation yet do not have proper plans to do so.

The 3rd paradox is “Seeing Without Doing” where on-demand businesses have been increasingly dependent on yet only 21% of organizations moved the majority of applications and infrastructures to “as-a-Service” models. Surely they have not seen how much cloud computing and “aaS” plans can strongly benefit an organization that hugely relies on technology.

To alleviate such problems, Dell Technologies have given out several tips to turn the situation into reversal and becoming an advantage by:

  • Modernizing IT infrastructure – Embrace edge computing through a consistent multi-cloud model and process data where it is captured, analyzed, and acted on
  • Optimizing data pipelines – With the help of AI and machine learning, data can flow more freely and securely
  • Software – Developing applications to deliver an integrated and personalized experience
