ATLAS Vending has introduced 11 new vending machines in the Klang Valley area to give some help to the visual-impaired users through braille descriptions.
In short, the machines are getting stuck with braille stickers on anything that can be pressed to improve the accessibility to help the blind gain access to refreshing drinks in public spaces.
Not only that, when it is time to pay, there’s a couple of buttons to let them choose whether through cash or card while instructions are delivered through audio as well to help them pinpoint the exact position to slide in their paper money or digital credits.
Currently, these 11 vending machines are spread across LRT stations which include the Brickfields area for the first batch thanks to the data provided by MAB that shows the higher amount of traffic involving visual-impaired individuals but surely it’ll be expanded towards a wider area to benefit more people of the unfortunate. Additionally, the company is also making an RM10,000 donation towards MAB’s COVID-19 campaign to deliver financial support to the blind community.
I just hope that the brailles are as accurate to correctly deliver the drink name and not the other way around. But overall, a simple yet creative way to help the mass without extravagant investments. I like it!
