YES is starting 2022 with a loud move by revealing the #FirstToDiscover5G campaign and dragging 2 million Malaysians into the mix.
In this little yet ambitious campaign that starts today until February 14, YES will be offering a free YES FT5G Prepaid Discover SIM Pack to anyone that runs a smartphone that is 5G compatible. Rather than short-term gain, YTL Communications is aiming for the quicker mainstreaming process of 5G which the technology offers higher data speeds and lower latency, although the limiting factor of 5G widespread is the number of base stations for providing the much-needed coverage at the moment.
Here’s the process of applying for that free SIM:
- Head over to YES’s website or the MyYes app during the promotion period
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- Receive the YES FT5G Prepaid Discover SIM, free of charge
- Activate the SIM card on a 5G compatible phone via eKYC for verification
As to how YES found out the figure which is 2 million for this campaign? Well, they did some research and got that number stemming from the amount of 5G compatible smartphones sold until recently. Technically not wrong but that’s quite a budget for this campaign though.
