Samsung is going to launch a brand new projector named The Freestyle this year that does more than a standard projector.
Created to serve primarily the Gen Z and Millennials, The FreeStyle is made to fill in the shoes of not only a projector but also a smart speaker and an ambient lighting device, all packed into a small and lightweight form factor that comes in just 830 grams. The versatile cradle allows rotation angles of up to 180-degrees to get the video projected onto practically anywhere – tables, floors, walls, ceilings (?), you name it. Also, the little device also comes with a full-auto keystone and leveling function to automatically adapt to any surface at any angle and you don’t need to worry about adjusting lens focus as The Freestyle does it for you on the fly too.
As for how it functions as a smart speaker, it smartly analyzes the music or content that is currently playing and sets up the ambient mood for you and the dual passive radiator setup pushes out crisp audio with deep bass without distortion, and thanks to the 360-degree output, what you hear is what you hear no matter which direction you’re sitting at. Touching back to the ambient light source topic, it does the job through the translucent lens cap were when the device is not functioning as a projector, it simply lights up things, and for powering the device, anything that supports USB-PD with 50W/20V above can be used as the juice to drive The Freestyle.
And get this, you can directly fix The Freestyle into a standard E26 light socket without any additional wiring as it takes electricity directly from the power line to both power the entire unit – projector, smart speaker, ambient lighting, all in one.
As for when will this innovative thing come to Malaysia? Only time will tell and yeah, told by Samsung when it’s time.
