Kingston has announced the availability of the 2022 Mini Tiger USB Flash Drive, the latest member in the currently ever-growing Zodiac series USB Drive collection (Unless they do this for another 10 years for a full set). Thanks to Kingston, we got a unit of the Mini Tiger for review so let’s find out what it actually looks like!
The miniature tiger lies down very snuggly even on a laptop at around 2 keycaps big. The little legs are also part of the charm too.
It can also stand by itself in a pretty steady way despite its short feet. Little black stripes are there to tell everyone that it is actually a tiger and not other animals by any means.
Inspecting further down the bum area, there’s the little notch that helps you taking out the drive more easily instead of risking pulling the tail off the entire drive where you definitely don’t want it to happen to a collector’s item.
Pulling the drive out reveals a long hollow cutout within the mini tiger’s body and a quick peek of the drive probably resembles something like a railgun. The tail does add a little extra point when you plug the drive into a port as you probably will need to tug the tail part slowly when removing. Both the base and the drive piece are painted in gold to give out that Chinese New Year vibe.
As for those who don’t know, the Mini Tiger comes in a red and gold beverage-like packaging which is the core color theme of Chinese New Year for virtue and prosperity. The box itself could also be kept as a collector item as well! As for computing specs, it uses the USB 3.2 Gen 1 protocol to deliver up to 200MB/s read speed at 64GB of capacity.
The entire package can be yours at just RM89 and for a collector’s item, spending only RM89 once every year for an annual release is way more affordable than you think. I just hope that these things are not a one-time release and may return in the next 12 years.
