Finally! After about 1.5 years, Samsung released the next generation of high-end tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8 series. It comes in a total of 3 different tablets this time, but unfortunately- we didn’t have much time to spend with them, so this is going to be short.

Samsung says it’s because people are buying tablets with a bigger screen, that is why they’re releasing this massive tablet. It has a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 16:10 in aspect ratio – and yes, it has a notch – but it’s much smaller than I expected.

I mean, you can compare that Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s notch with the MacBook Pro’s notch.

Have a look at the MacBook Pro’s humongous notch.

But, within the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra’s notch, there are dual 12MP cameras for edge detection as you can use accurate background effects during video calls, and both front and back cameras can film in 4K.

This Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is also surprisingly thin to the point that I was afraid of snapping it in half when I was holding it. Samsung did reassure me that they’re using Armour Aluminium for the frame, though.

The thinness of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is insane.

All 3 of the Galaxy Tab S8 tablets come with the S Pen included in the box, and they now have improved latency as well, just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Both the Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra are now down to only 2.8ms, whereby the Galaxy Tab S8 is at about 6-ish milliseconds of response time.

Also, all of the Galaxy Tab S8 tablets are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset – which I don’t mind for a tablet since it has a much bigger area to dissipate the heat.

Samsung DeX is also improved but we will have to wait until we get our hands on it before we can test this further. We also do not know what’s new with Samsung’s new One UI Tab 4. It seems to be made for tablets, but isn’t that what Android 12L is supposed to be?

One more new feature that I’m excited about is the Tab S8 Ultra as a wireless external touch screen monitor for Windows PCs.

Also, LumaFusion is coming to Tab S8! We can use the accurate S Pen to do video editing on the tablet itself – which will definitely be an interesting experience overall.

Tab S8 is also using ocean plastic for parts of the tablet – which is in line with what the Galaxy S22 series is doing.

In terms of the colors available, here they are. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is only available in one color.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: Graphite
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 | Tab S8+ : Graphite, Silver, Pink Gold

In terms of specs of all the tablets, here they are. We’re not going to talk about the specs as we’ll leave that when we get the device in our hands to test it out.

Also, all tablets support the “power bank mode” which literally uses the tablets as a power bank – and the battery sizes of these tablets are pretty commendable too. By the way, all these 3 tablets can also be charged with up to 45W wired charging.
