The tech industry has grown towards greener initiatives over the past few years in effort to reduce its large industry carbon footprint and to ensure users that they are designing and producing quality products that are not at the big expense of mother nature. Since its launch in 2018, realme has played an active part in providing greener technology for their young fans around the world to promote the concept of technology and recycling.
With the launch of the realme GT 2 Pro, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand continues to show its efforts to providing affordable premium technology that brings no harm to the environment. This new phone uses the element of paper texture, bringing the beauty of paper to our everyday smartphone.
Paired with top-line performance and hardware, it is no surprise Malaysians have shown great interest in the GT 2 Pro – so much so that 1,000 units were sold within the first 24 hours, and it achieved the prestigious status of No. 1 Best Selling Smartphone On Shopee above the RM2,500.00 category!
Designed by world-renowned industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, the GT 2 Pro is the industry’s first bio-based polymer smartphone, bringing users the perfect combination of art, respect, love, and reverence of the environment.
Highlighting its Paper Tech Master Design, the industrial icon together with realme Design Studios have designed a premium device that brings the beauty of paper to the mobile phone – paper is premium, neat, and light, and Fukusawa intended to bring these elements to life through the GT 2 Pro. An insight to the feel of the phone – the GT 2 Pro’s unique back panel is designed with textures full of small rivets and a herringbone pattern. Together with its lightweight features, it’ll be as if you’re holding paper in your hands.
realme recognizes the challenges faced by the youth, especially its Gen-Z audience – in a world of global warming, the youth of this generation are seen to be willing to adjust their lifestyles and consumption habits, an effort to playing their part in protecting our planet.
People are now willing to do research, spend more, and make sacrifices to ensure the element of sustainability are implemented within their lifestyles. As a brand that provides the best for their young audience worldwide, realme researched innovative technology that balances sustainability and functionality, and discovered the beauty and future in paper.
With sustainability in mind, the GT 2 Pro was to reduce its carbon emissions during its manufacturing, and found a solution – to collaborate with SABIC. With both brands wanting to provide a greener world for all, the GT 2 Pro was designed with bio-polymer compound that uses recycled material, such as paper pulp and fallen leaves, without sacrificing durability and quality. The manufacturing process of the device had reduced carbon footprint by 35.5%, and 2kg of CO2 reduction.
With green innovation incorporated to the smartphone, the realme GT 2 Pro is recognized as the world’s first TCO 9.0 certified smartphone for its design and construction, complying with over 40 sustainability performance indicators. Even with the device crafted with recyclable materials, realme went further to even create packaging that promotes recyclable materials – the packaging was redesigned to reduce plastic usage from its usual 21.7% to just 0.3%, and used 100% soy oil ink for the printing of the packaging. As a leading smartphone brand, realme has once again shown its industrial leadership with greener initiatives with products that offer sustainability and quality.
