No, this is not an April Fools joke. Samsung is really stepping up its self-repair initiative for real.
As a way to expand the Samsung Care service that provides extensive coverage against multiple forms of accidental mishaps that a normal warranty wouldn’t cover, the Korean electronics giant has partnered up with iFixit, the popular and leading online repair community that you might have heard about more than you can count from a known media all about tech tips, to basically give Galaxy owners the ability to repair their device by themselves, of course, accompanied with professional tools and guides to make sure even a beginner can get it done.
But as expected, the self-repair program starts in the US and is expected to trickle down to the rest of the world with the first round of Galaxy devices eligible for the service including the Galaxy S20 and S21 series with the Galaxy Tab S7+ following suit this coming Summer. By allowing users to replace parts that are the most susceptible to physical damage, Samsung can collect these broken parts back and perform responsible recycling, resulting in a bigger impact in sustaining the environment.
For those living in the US, you can use the store locator to find the nearest Samsung Authorized Care location to enroll or acquire information about this new self-repair program. For Malaysia, it’s a coming soon TM.
