We actually got our hands-on with the device about a month ago. It was just sitting in the backlog and eventually was forgotten until today. But, this product is still unique.
You see, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is the world’s first foldable OLED laptop. While many people may joke that all laptops are technically foldable, this is a true all-screen device that can be folded in half.
So, a quick rundown – as the name suggests, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has a 17-inch OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 4:3.
What ASUS did to fill in the gap is to fit the aforementioned keyboard in between. That protects the flexible OLED screen while also protecting the keyboard from randomly pressing keys. It’s actually a smart idea. Though, charging the keyboard will be a problem as it is a separate device connected to the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED via Bluetooth.
Of course, I am worried about the longevity and durability of this device. One particular thing that I’m very worried about is the kickstand’s strength. Currently, it’s a little flap at the back of the device that keeps the entire device propped up. That flip is… rather puny and it looks like the entire kickstand is going to break and collapse any second.
Either way, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED that we looked at today is not the version that is commercially available so the final product will be different.
