Acer’s creator-focused division ConceptD is welcoming 3 new members into the family for 2022.
Taking the spotlight is the ConceptD 500 super high-performance desktop encased in a timeless, minimalistic chassis. This 20L mid-sized rig combines Intel and NVIDIA’s strongest parts to create a machine with zero compromises in data processing power. Sporting a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and a selection of graphics cards of either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or RTX A4000, no application is too heavy for this bad boy.
Up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM can be slotted into the board (Yes, a bit sad that it is not DDR5) and you can plug it with up to 4TB of PCIe-based flash storage on top of another 4TB mechanical drive. Need to get your peripherals and external gadgets all connected in one go? There are plenty of I/Os including an integrated SD card reader just for that sake.
Like everything the ConceptD 500 offers but that one aspect which is it being too chonky? Well, the ConceptD 100 is basically created to be the little brother as the specs on paper are close to matching the big guy. The top seems to rock a wood-like texture instead of marble.
You can pick either a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 CPU and do the same for the GPU which is either the NVIDIA T400 or T1000. The motherboard is capable of supporting up to 128GB of DDR4-3200 RAM kits and a total of 4TB storage in the form of a 2TB PCIe SSD + 2TB HDD.
There are a plethora of I/O ports as well such as USB-C, USB-A, SD card reader, 2.5GbE so you won’t really need an external expansion hub or something.
The mobile family also got the new ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro in one go and as expected, the 12th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU is getting fixed here but the GPU has a couple of selections being either the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti or the RTX A5500 for the Pro model. Memory-wise, it supports a maximum of 32GB LPDDR5 and 2TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD.
The display can also go pretty bonkers because the best of the bunch is a WQUXGA (3840 x 2400) 16:10 OLED panel with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR support, Delta E<2 color accuracy, and runs the PANTONE Matching System Colors to provide one of the most premium visual experience for professional work.
With such a monstrous configuration, Acer managed to get the NVIDIA Studio Validated stamp for both the ConceptD 5 and 5 Pro. What does the validation provide? In short, pre-installed NVIDIA Studio drivers, dedicated optimization for industrial applications, and access to the NVIDIA’s content creation platform including Omniverse, Canvas, and Broadcast.
Other notable/quirky functions include Corning Gorilla Glass trackpad, dedicated hotkeys consisting of the “Snipping Tool”, “Color Picker”, and “Swapping Apps” which are reprogrammable, fingerprint reader, and more.
