Samsung has announced that they are going to scale up their commitment to practicing sustainable business by taking a step from the customer support department.
As everything takes the chance to get into digital transformation, the move of transitioning from paper documentation to full binaries of 0s and 1s not only signifies the age of digitalization but also cutting away the dependencies on trees which is literally one of the saving grace of our planet.
Specifically, anything that relays information such as product repair, service records, receipts, e-manuals, and more, will be making the change from physically printed copies to messages and emails delivered to the user’s digital mailbox.
To facilitate this, Samsung’s global service system, the Global Service Partner Network (GSPN), was upgraded to accommodate this program by allowing associated employees to send e-documents about each aspect of service via various digital communication channels.
Operated by 40 Samsung Electronics subsidiaries across 11,000 service centers around the world, this is just the first step for the Korean giant as they aim to scale up the application towards internal use to include office work documents as well.
Through the campaign, the brand expects that approximately 6 million liters of water will be saved each year while nearly 526 tons of carbon emissions will be reduced, which can be translated into the amount of carbon absorbed by 61,000 30-year-old pine trees in a year. Dang, that’s some numbers just by not using paper.
