Inspiration Mars Foundation announced their plans for their Mars mission. Humans will be sent to Mars and back in 501 days on 2018.
The Inspiration Mars Foundation was formed and piloted by the millionaire Dennis Tito(72). He was the first person paid a ticket to visit the famous International Space Station.
He will reveal more next month at the IEEE Aerospace Conference on “Feasibility Analysis for a Manned Mars Free Return Mission in 2018.”
“According to the NewSpace Journal, which obtained a copy of the paper the group plans to present at the conference, the Mars mission would use a modified version of SpaceX’s Dragon capsule, which last year made a successful delivery of cargo to the ISS.”
The modified Dragon capsule will be able to carry astronauts. The plan was to slingshot the capsule onto Mars orbit and return home safely. As simple as it sounds, this is a very “time-critical” mission since the window for a normal Mars journey will open every two years. It is expected to be in the early January 2018 but since this is a slingshot method, the next window would only appear in about 2031.

Hopefully the two foundations will be able to make Mission To Mars a success for the sake of researching alien life, extraterrestrial geography and “terra forming”.
