We all know that fossil fuel is limited and will run out someday, especially when fuel consumption rate is growing exponentially. Scientists have since trying to find a way to substitute fossil fuels with other sources such as bio fuel and cleanly generated electricity.
Just recently, a team of scientists at University of Illinois, Chicago discovered a method to make synthetic fuel by using carbon dioxide and carbon nano fibres. What they did was converting the carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide. This new method is called “Co-catalyst” system which they replace the expensive silver with carbon nano fibres together with nitrogen to complete the process. This system is proven to be more efficient and less expensive than using silver.
To make the process even more efficient, the scientists says that they will need to stack super thin graphene sheets to make mass production a reality and ultimately replace fossil fuels. Not only we won’t run out of fuel but we can pay less for them in the future.
