ASUS is finally going to push for the market of foldable laptops by introducing what might be the best one to date. We welcome the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED.
This device, the UX9702, is the love child born between close collaboration between ASUS and Intel in order to make it the world’s first 17.3-inch foldable OLED laptop with Intel Evo certification. As such, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is basically created to cover the usage of just about anything from professional use to lifestyle entertainment.
The main highlight of it is definitely the 4:3 17.3-inch 2.5K touchscreen folds in the middle that creates a two-side 3:2 12.5-inch FHD display. Rigorously tested to withstand more than 30,000 cycles of opening and closing with no degradation, its 60Hz refresh rate and 0.2ms response time are made up by other strong aspects such as 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, Dolby Vision, and PANTONE Validation.
With the absence of a built-in keyboard, it can be used in several modes thanks to ASUS’s optimization of the Windows 11 interface including Desktop, Laptop with Bluetooth keyboard, Laptop with virtual keyboard, Tablet, Reader, and Extended. Users can even drag multiple windows around with automatic sorting and size fitting to make things easier.
As for the internals, it contains an Intel Core i7-1250U with Iris Xe Graphics, 16GB RAM, and 1TB PCIe SSD coupled with a couple of Thunderbolt 4 for easy daisy-chaining peripherals and external devices plus charging at 75W. Powering the audio department is the usual Harman Kardon with Dolby Atmos while a 5MP AI webcam with IR sensor and 3DNR technology enables clear calls and native Windows Hello integration.
ASUS also refreshed the ErgoSense keyboard on this occasion as well in order to match the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED’s entrance. It now offers an even better typing experience with comfort through the 19.05mm key pitch and 1.4mm key travel that matches the specs of a typical mechanical switch (at least on paper).
Pricing and Availability
The ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED will become available in Malaysia starting Q4 2022 at the price of RM14,999.
That’s quite a figure to swallow especially as an early adopter of “tech tax” so definitely not something most people would consider. But if you have the free money to spend, you’re gonna have a lot of fun with this.
