If you’ve been a long Android fan since a few years back, then you’ve probably heard of the name “Android@Home” during Google I/O 2011. The vision of this project was simple – you’re able to control everything from your Android device – be it to turn off the lights, or cranking up the volume of your music player.
Google had this vision, but it never did got carried out further than within Google I/O 2011 itself. Samsung however, is now announcing their new service called Smart Home that is said to be an assistant that will help you in connecting everything – that is only all Samsung-branded devices, be it your television, your refrigerator, digital cameras, or even air conditions – all remotely controlled from your tablet, smartphone, smart TV or even your smart watch through Samsung’s cloud service.

Surely Samsung is offering this service because they’re expecting your home to be using 100% Samsung appliances, so that they can have an integrated service for your entire home. Based on what we know, Samsung will be showing off their new Smart Home service in CEX this year, as they have also announced that Samsung will be rolling out the products and devices by the end of the second quarter this year, that is the end of first half of the year.
As of now, there isn’t any news if it’s friendly with 3rd party devices or if it is open source. What we do hope though, is that Samsung is able to make something as cool as this.
Wouldn’t it be totally cool to be able to control everything from your comfy sofa while reading a book? Surely that’s a plus for me.
