I have yet to find an adult who wouldn’t want to play with a drone. Seriously. Now, the makers of the AR.Drone are revealing two new toys built from their technology — Parrot MiniDrone and Parrot Jumping Sumo.
Parrot MiniDrone is a smaller quadrocopter version of the AR.Drone. Although it doesn’t have a camera, it has a pair of removable wheel that not just enables only to fly, but to to roll along the ground, up walls, or even across the ceiling. The MiniDrone is connected with Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy and can be easily piloted by using the smartphone or tablet app, just like the AR.Drone did.
Parrot Jumping Sumo is controlled by tilting our smartphone or tablet and this one does have a camera which pushes live video to our mobile devices over Wi-Fi. A quick swipe that makes an instant 90 degree turns and jumps up to 80 cm, with the Sumo’s built-in gyroscope and accelerometer to ensure that it is with remarkable accurate, and there is a separate button to lets us control the length and height of jumps. There are also preset stunts, including a rapid spin mode.
No word on pricing or availability on either of these yet but it will for sure be much more cheaper than the $299 A.R.Drone – and I’m ready to pre-order both of this drone once is available in the market already!
