Okay, we reviewed the OPPO Reno10 Pro Plus previously, and now we’re taking a look at the non-plus version – the Reno10 Pro. There are a lot of differences between these two phones though, so we will be skipping over a lot of points and only highlight the differences.
So, let’s begin.
Alright, the Reno10 Pro has a slightly smaller size but they are pretty much shaped the same. They both have curved screens with the same 120Hz and resolution of 2772×1240 pixels.
This screen is still fantastic – covering nearly 100% of both sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts with a maximum ΔE of around 2.48.
The maximum brightness is a bit lower though, we only get around 800 nits here but it’s still going to be perfectly fine to be used outdoors. But, both these phones have the same issue of having the under-display fingerprint scanner way too low, making it uncomfortable to use.
Now, let’s talk about the cameras. The OPPO Reno10 Pro a completely different telephoto camera. It’s a pancake lens with 2x optical zoom that results in a 48mm focal length, and also a 32MP sensor instead of a 64MP. But, this pancake lens means it will have a larger aperture of f/2.0 – and that is particularly important for low-light shots.
To me, the 2x optical zoom looks to be a bit strange. The exposure is very off and everything seems to be just washed out. It is also quite noisy even for outdoor shots – and I have no idea why this is happening.

Either way, I have to commend OPPO for completely removing both the depth sensor and the 2MP macro camera entirely. Good job.
Now, the one more thing that is vastly different is the chipset. Of course, the OPPO Reno10 Pro is going to be lower in price and tiering compared to the Pro Plus variant – so you’ll be getting a lower-tier chipset too. For this one though, is a very big gap.
I’m talking about the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on the Pro Plus, and the 2-year-old Snapdragon 778G on the Pro. Yeah, it’s still a fantastic mid-range chipset in 2023. I mean, we can still get about 40 to 50fps in Genshin Impact with the lowest graphical settings, but there will be a lot of frame rate drops. Remember, we’re getting the same frame rate on the Pro Plus, but with the highest graphical settings.
Then, the battery life. Now, the Pro has 100mAh less than the Pro Plus. That 4,600mAh doesn’t seem like a lot, but the Snapdragon 778G is a super power-efficient chipset. We’re talking about 11 and a half hours in our standardized battery life test and that’s just amazing even for the year 2023.
Oh – another difference between these two phones is the charger that is included. The Pro Plus comes with a 100W charger, whereby the Pro comes with an 80W. It still charges the phone from 15% to completion in about half hour only – but the temperature is pretty high. It can reach about 45°C.
The software is pretty much the same, but I wanna point out that the bloatware is a lot. I mean, we’re talking about the pages upon pages of bloatware. The last page of bloatware appears as we’re updating the apps, by the way.
Both of these phones do have an IR blaster at the top, so you can customize it via the app that was provided by OPPO and start adding remotes. It works the same way as Xiaomi’s IR blaster app – and it’s easy to use.
There are some design differences too, actually. The Pro Plus has a glossy finish whereby the Pro has a matte finish – which I think is nicer, honestly.
Should you buy the OPPO Reno10 Pro?
And that’s about it in terms of differences between the Reno10 Pro+ versus the Reno10 Pro. The price gap between these two phones is huge. I’m talking about a RM1300 leap. This gap is mainly due to the chipset and also the optical zoom capability.
But referring back to the OnePlus Nord 3 that we reviewed previously… I’ll say that this Reno10 Pro is way too expensive. They’re both at the same price but the Nord 3 comes with a Dimensity 9000 chipset, a version of ColorOS with no bloatware that is called OxygenOS, and the same charging speed.
