As a prominent memory chip manufacturer based in South Korea, SK Hynix made its presence felt at COMPUTEX 2024 by showing us its current and upcoming range of memory products.
First on the roster is the Platinum P51 SSD, boasting impressive speeds of up to 13,500MBps sequential read and 11,500MBps sequential write, thanks to its in-house Aries controller and PCIe 5.0 x4 interface.
Another highlight is the Haechi H02, designed as a heatsink rather than a drive, intended for use with the P41 drive specifically tailored for the PS5’s PCIe SSD expansion slot. Scheduled for release this month, it ensures optimal performance for your new drive.
Displayed with a captivating gold finish reminiscent of ancient Egyptian relics is the Beetle X31.
Then there’s the Tube T31, offered in standard black but also available in a limited edition Lies of P collaboration model, featuring unique printing on the enclosure inspired by the protagonist’s arm. Despite its appearance as a standard thumb drive, it operates at SSD-like speeds. The limited edition is rare, with only 1000 units available worldwide.
The session at COMPUTEX is hosted by Hitachi LG Data Storage Inc., established in 2000 and renowned for manufacturing optical drive components. In response to growing demand for budget-friendly products, they introduced the ‘super multi’ branding, in collaboration with SK Hynix.
This branding encompasses SSDs, RAM sticks, and more, including drives compatible with MagSafe and featuring magnetic covers.
Looking ahead, the ‘super multi | SK Hynix’ branding will eventually replace the current “purist” SK Hynix branding with products manufactured by SK Hynix’s South Korea factory, while the budget segment will feature the HLDS logo and parts from Malaysia.
