PICO just announced that they’re rolling out the OS 5.13.0 update for their PICO 4 Ultra headset, and it’s packed with some pretty exciting improvements that make the overall experience smoother and more immersive.

One of the standout upgrades is the panoramic screen workspace. Now, you can adjust the distance and position of your open apps however you like, making multitasking in VR for work or entertainment way more efficient.

The photo gallery is also getting a major refresh. There’s a new feature that turns regular 2D photos into spatial ones, and it even supports batch conversion. If you’ve got spatial photos from an iPhone 16, you can view them in the headset too, with everything enhanced via multi-frame noise reduction for clearer images.

Developers aren’t left out either. New performance debugging tools are being added so they can fine-tune XR apps and optimize performance. Motion tracking also sees a big improvement, especially when you’re sitting or lying down. The updated algorithm increases full-body tracking accuracy for more fluid movement crafted with relaxed postures.

PICO is also introducing a new gesture-only mode, which means you can ditch the controllers for an even more immersive experience. They’ve added an interaction module, too so if your gestures ever clash, the system will help sort it out.

On top of that, the AI virtual scene collection is expanding with two new scenes which are free for a limited time. These AI-generated environments are designed for users to explore or relax in.

Notable stuff includes a general image quality boost in low-light environments, support for frame interpolation for smoother playback, and a virtual theater setting for a more fun and life-like experience.
