Previously leaked HERE maps was a time bomb – and has already expired. A new version (1.0-172) has been leaked out, and is reportedly working for all Android-based, non-Samsung phones as well.
Samsung has been reportedly working on HERE Maps a few weeks ago, and a beta version was released for reviewers.
Personally, I praise Samsung for this investment here for bringing Nokia’s renowned HERE Maps to Android through their partnership with Nokia (or is it Microsoft?) to spice things up in the navigation segment for smartphones. HERE Maps is definitely welcome, since it does not require cellular data.
Another piece to the puzzle is of course with wearables. Samsung has been in the smart wearables market since its early emergence, and they are definitely not giving up the idea of having HERE Maps on your wrist. Here’s a quote from their website :
HERE for Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones will be available when the Samsung Gear S arrives in stores.
Nokia also claims that HERE Maps is available for “almost 200 countries”. My guess is Malaysia is part of that “almost 200”, since we have already seen HERE Maps for Malaysia on other devices. And hey – Malaysian maps costs only 271.3MB and Singaporean maps costs 156.9MB. Not too bad, eh?
