I got the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro the same day as I got the Galaxy S26 series – but we’ve been focusing on the S26 series first. Now, since we have a trip lined up, it’s the perfect chance to actually put the Galaxy Buds4 Pro to the test. We brought it to us and also filmed a video at Taipei, Taiwan, where we talked about everything you need to know about the new Galaxy Buds4 Pro.
It’s highly recommended for you to watch the video as many things are just better expressed through video than in an article.
Refined Design and Case Changes
The first thing you’ll notice is the brand new case design. While it feels a bit thicker than previous versions, it is narrower in some regards. It features a USB-C charging port and a physical pairing button on the back. One major change to note is that accessories for the Galaxy Buds2 series are not compatible with this new model, despite sharing the same design language.

An aesthetic point of contention is the glossy window on the case. While it looks sleek, it is highly prone to scratches, so I highly recommend getting a protective case for it.

As for the earbuds themselves, Samsung has shortened the stems compared to the Galaxy Buds3 Pro. They’ve also moved away from the Blade Lighting design of the previous generation, which I find to be a welcome change as the lights were often a hassle to manage.

Superior Comfort and Fit
Samsung claims to have sampled over 100 million pairs of ears to perfect the shape of the Buds4 Pro, and the result is impressive. They are significantly more comfortable than the Buds3 Pro, largely because the shorter stems stay out of the way and don’t hit the ear as much.

In the box, you’ll find S and L size eartips to ensure a good seal. However, take note that the tips still feature a plastic frame similar to the Buds3 Pro, which if you remember – had a major debacle at launch. Additionally, Samsung has removed the charging cable from the box entirely this year.

Professional-Grade Sound and Customization
Under the hood, the Buds4 Pro are packed with tech. They feature a two-way speaker with a wider woofer and tweeter, offering a 20% larger effective area than before.

- Hi-Res Audio: When used with Samsung devices, they support 24-bit 96kHz audio via the Samsung Scalable Codec (SSC).
- The Listening Experience: The lower end has a much deeper “rumble” compared to the Buds 3 Pro, and the treble is noticeably clearer and less muffled.
- EQ is Key: The default sound profile leans heavily toward the bass. Fortunately, the speakers handle EQ adjustments brilliantly without any distortion. I personally recommend using the custom EQ settings to dial back the bass and boost the treble for a more balanced sound.
For me personally, I use this EQ as it suits my ears a lot better.

Noise Cancellation and Smart Features
The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) has seen a massive improvement. It was effective enough to handle flight noise and heavy wind during my testing.

Beyond ANC, the Buds 4 Pro include several “smart” features:
- Reliable Voice Commands: You can say “next song” or “previous song” to control your music, and it works reliably even in noisy environments like a train.
- Touch Controls: The earbuds feature touch panels for pinching and swiping, which are customizable in the app.
- Head Gestures: You can also use head movements to answer or decline calls.

Battery life
While Samsung claims up to six hours of battery life, my testing was a bit more modest. With ANC turned to the maximum, I averaged about 5 hours of use.

Audio delay
When it comes to wireless audio, audio delay is a problem. It’s inevitable – but it can be minimized instead. We did the latency test with three modes – and here are the results.

I gotta say, the gaming mode is actually working really well here, though I do wish there’s an easy way to toggle between UHQ mode and gaming mode, instead of jumping between menus to disable UHQ mode and go back to enable gaming mode.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro?
Priced at RM999, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is a premium offering that competes well with other high-end earbuds on the market. It is one of the best, but there are many other higher-end wireless earbuds that sound even better.

However, the features built into the Galaxy Buds4 Pro is a huge boon over the competition. It’s also a significant step up in sound quality, ANC performance, and most importantly – long-term wearing comfort. If you are already in the Samsung ecosystem, these are easily the best earbuds the company has made to date.
