The SEMICON SEA 2026 expo is heating up with Malaysia in the middle of it, joined by various industry players and partners scheduled for May 5 – 7. Interesting, one of the highlighted participants is Taiwan, where the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA), Precision Machinery Research & Development Center (PMC), and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) have come together to run its Taiwan Semiconductor Innovative Products Launch booth.
Aimed to tighten collaboration across the region while pushing the concept of a more connected semiconductor ecosystem, they will be running 3 focused sessions of Packaging, Testing, and Automation where Taiwan already has a strong foothold, especially with technologies tied to AI and high-performance computing.
A pretty complete ecosystem is what backs this achievement, as the advanced packaging and process side sees firms working on things like panel-level packaging for AI workloads, system-in-package shielding, test interface solutions, and plasma-based processing tech, all the way to thermal control systems that keep these high-performance chips stable.
At the same time, there’s a strong push on the manufacturing side too. You’re seeing companies bringing in high-precision components, smart factory integration systems, energy-efficient vacuum tech, nitrogen generation for clean environments, and even automated photomask storage with RFID tracking – so it’s not just about chips, it’s about the entire production pipeline.
Zooming out a bit, the SEMICON SEA 2026 brings global supply chains together once again despite recent shifts, all to improve the competitiveness and resilience of the region.
