ROG announced the new ROG Ally X20 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand – and ROG also took the opportunity to do a mid-gen refresh too.

Let’s start with the specs. The ROG Ally X20 will be more or less the same as the ROG Xbox Ally X. However, the Ally X20 will be using the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme instead of the Z2 Extreme AI found in the Xbox Ally X.

The performance should be the same, but the Copilot for gaming seems to be sidelined entirely.

The new Ally X20 will also be equipped with a 7.4-inch OLED screen. We cannot confirm the resolution, refresh rate, or if it supports VRR. From what we can guess, it mostly will be.

The entire screen – including the bezels – seems to be the same size as all the previous generations of the Ally. It’s just that the top bezel is now smaller than before, hence the 0.4-inch larger viewing estate.

As far as we know, everything else remains the same.

The physical shape and design is also very similar to the ROG Xbox Ally X, though it is using a semi-transparent case now and we can see what’s inside. The Xbox button now also glows, which is a nice touch, I guess? I’ll personally disable all lights.

The grips has been updated to a grippy texture as well – which is truly appreciated so the entire device wouldn’t slide off my hands when it gets a bit sweaty.

As of now, we don’t have the price or availability. Hopefully, we can review one too.

By the way, there’s also a custom Cyberpunk 2077 design of the ROG Xbox Ally X shown there too. Looks great – especially since the arm is also a stand.
