Introducing – a new phone from realme’s T series – the realme 16T. It’s parked towards a more affordable range of devices. It’s a rather simple phone, so let’s begin with the review.

Battery life

So, let’s talk about the battery life first. This is the main highlight of the realme 16T, as it comes with a massive 8,000mAh battery – but more accurately, it’s at 31.36Wh because Wh is just a much better way to measure battery capacity.

Anyway, this phone can last more than 35 hours – the longest that we’ve seen so far. Rather crazy, and I think this is the longest battery life that we got from this test.

Charging speed

As for the charging speed, the realme 16T comes with a proprietary 45W charger in the box – and we can charge the phone from 15% to completion in around 85 minutes, which is actually quite fast for a phone with this battery capacity.

Moving on to our USB-PD PPS charger, the realme 16T can charge from 15% to completion in less than 75 minutes. Surprisingly faster than the proprietary charger, but not by much. The phone also only takes in about 35W for a little while, and that’s the highest wattage intake.

Screen

Now, one of the reason why this phone can be so affordable and also have such a long battery life is partly due to the display. We have a 6.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1570×720 pixels, and goes up to 144Hz refresh rate. Yeah, IPS LCD screen because we can confirm it by viewing an image of black color, then turning the screen on and off.

But then again, this IPS LCD panel quality is actually very good. It can reach around 1100 nits at most, and 2.72 nits at minimum. The color gamut coverage is not bad too. We have two color profiles, and the default vivid color profile will cover nearly 100% of sRGB and about 88.85% of DCI-P3. Not the most vivid in terms of colors, but it’s very comfortable to look at while the colors still pop out.

The natural color profile is actually not far off from the vivid color profile. It covers 99.38% of sRGB and around 82.2% of DCI-P3 color gamuts, which is similar yes, but we can somewhat see the differences between the two color profiles with our own eyes.

Performance

Now, the performance is kinda modest, to put it lightly. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, which is in a more lower-mid-range level of performance. It is still smooth enough to navigate around, but there are some slowdowns here and there.

While this phone can’t play games like Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, or Wuthering Waves – it can still play simple games like Brawl Stars just fine.

Software

As for the software side of things – the realme 16T comes with realme UI 7 on top of Android 16. It works well enough, I’d say. It does have some rather smooth animations, though they’re simplified. I don’t mind it since animations are just there to show us where things are moving.

We do have some ads on the notification and lots of pre-installed apps. Some apps are even installed after the setup process, even though I have unselected all of them. Luckily, we can remove or disable a lot of the bloatware. It’s just annoying that we have to go through this.

Other than that, the software here works, and I have no qualms about it.

Camera

As for the camera – yes, singular because it only has one camera here, I think it’s rather okay.

The other camera is stated to be a monochrome camera on the specs sheet but it actually is just a depth sensor. Yes, I blocked that camera while in portrait mode, and it complained that the lens is blocked.

Overall, the camera is basically what I personally expected. The outdoor shots look good, so I think this is actually quite an acceptable camera.

Design

All of that is packed within this design of a phone. The realme 16T looks and feels nice, actually. This wavy look kinda reminds me of how flames work, but wrapped with this relaxing minty color, it gives off a calming effect. The back also has matte finish – which is a great deterrent against fingerprints and such.

The camera bump is in a square parked at the corner – and this silver circle is meant to be a mirror. So, if you want to take a selfie using the rear camera, just look at this mirror and frame your shot. I don’t know why it disappeared in smartphones, but I’m kinda glad that realme added it back here.

A few more things to mention

And a few more things to run through – the realme 16T comes with a USB 2.0 port at t he bottom, no display output capability, has a dedicated SIM card slot and another hybrid SIM or microSD card slot, and that’s all the other features the realme 16T has.

realme Watch S5

I also want to dedicate this section to talk about the realme Watch S5. This is a smartband that has a brilliant 1.43-inch AMOLED display, has lots of features and also lots of watchfaces to select from, and also a bunch of other health-tracking and sports mode as well.

What’s great is obviously going to be the battery. It is not running on Wear OS, which is why I’m calling it a smartband instead of a smartwatch – but the benefit is that with just a single charge, it can last for about 20 days.

The charger is also very compact. It uses a proprietary magnetic puck, but the puck itself is plugged in via USB-C – so we can just plug it into our phone charger and it’ll work too.

Should you buy the realme 16T?

So, should you buy the realme 16T? Well, I think the price is the deciding factor. After looking at everything that this phone has to offer, I think it is very similar to the other phone that we reviewed recently – the realme C100.

There are some real differences between the two – the realme 16T does have a bigger battery capacity, but the realme C100 has an audio jack. So it ultimately depends on what you value more.

I don’t have the price for the realme 16T or the realme Watch S5 as of now, so we’ll update when we have the price.
