This platform adopts a fanless, direct liquid-cooled design and can scale to as many as 144 GPUs in a single rack, delivering significantly higher compute density while reducing energy consumption. Compared to previous-generation NVIDIA GB200 NVL4-based systems, the new platform offers increased CPU core counts, larger host memory capacity, expanded GPU memory, and greater overall compute performance.

Aside from the usual “more memory = larger models and data capabilities” scalability, the ORv3 rack standard also allows the system to integrate seamlessly with Dell’s management ecosystem, including iDRAC, Dell Integrated Rack Controller, and OpenManage Enterprise. These tools provide centralized monitoring, telemetry, automated leak detection, and remote administration capabilities designed to simplify operations across large AI clusters.

The brand is also pairing the new solution with its PowerRack infrastructure and ProDeploy services for actory-integrated, pre-validated rack-scale systems to cut down the time from placing the order to full systems online in just a matter of hours.

According to them, several institutions and organizations have plans to utilize the PowerEdge XE8812 and similar offerings to bolster their AI processing power, including the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC), AI company InstaDeep, the Wellcome Sanger Institute from the UK, and Australia’s Monash University.

The Dell PowerEdge XE8812 is slated to launch globally early next year.
