Google Malaysia recently launched the YouTube Creators for Impact program specifically for the local market, as they brought in some of the best-known content creators to help parents and families better understand online safety via approachable methods.

6 local Lighthouse Creators came together, namely Lad and a Dad, Aqil Zulkiflee, Fourfeetnine, FU LOVE, Im_siowei, and JE Pong, and they will be spending the next 2 months working alongside industry experts to better understand topics such as parental controls, youth well-being, and responsible technology use. Specifically, these themes will be explored further:

  • Smart Guardrails – Learn more about YouTube’s built-in safety features for kids
  • Digital Wellness – Practical advice for healthier tech habits
  • Purposeful Tech – Discover how digital platforms can be used as valuable learning tools

One of the participating creators, JE Pong, also shared how her perspective on YouTube has evolved over the years. While she originally joined the platform as an artist, she now views it as a mother concerned about what children consume online. She believes families should focus on learning how to use technology responsibly instead of fearing it, and hopes the campaign can help bridge the gap between parenting and technology through relatable educational content.

The initiative comes as online safety continues to become a growing concern for Malaysian households. According to Google’s cited 2025 APAC AI Safety Survey by YouGov, 72% of Malaysian parents said they feel more confident discussing online safety with their children when they use digital safety or educational tools together.
