Dell and Nutanix are expanding their long-running partnership with native support for Dell PowerStore on Nutanix Cloud Platform running NCI 7.6. The update gives organizations another option for combining enterprise-grade external storage with Nutanix environments, allowing them to scale compute and storage independently without changing how they manage their infrastructure.

Following the steps of PowerFlex, Nutanix’s latest collaboration with Dell now offers even more flexibility for businesses in terms of choosing storage variants for private cloud deployments. Dell says the integration is designed to fit directly into existing Nutanix workflows, so administrators can continue using Prism without learning new management tools.

The use of NVMe all-flash architecture in PowerStore allows low-latency storage for demanding workloads such as enterprise databases, analytics, and business-critical applications. Since storage services are handled by PowerStore itself, compute resources remain available for running workloads instead of supporting storage functions.

Aside from the split between compute and storage streamlining separate scaling paths, existing Nutanix users can hop into it straight away with familiar experiences – Storage provisioning, snapshots, clones, and virtual disk expansion are all available directly through Prism, eliminating the need to switch between different interfaces or retrain IT teams.

For data protection, the integration supports multiple resilience options ranging from asynchronous replication to Metro synchronous replication with zero RPO and zero RTO. Long-term backup capabilities are provided through Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, including cloud archival and retention lock support.

Dell Private Cloud completes the deployment by automating Nutanix AHV cluster deployment using validated blueprints while also handling lifecycle management and providing Dell system-level hardware support. According to Omdia’s Technical First Look, organizations can deploy workload-ready clusters in about 2.5 hours with no manual effort after hardware installation, reducing deployment steps by more than 90% compared to traditional manual methods.

The update is now available with Nutanix AOS 7.6.
