Google has announced it will be launching “Ask Maps” within the Maps app that is capable of handling more complex requests instead of simply answering questions thanks to Gemini.

Malaysia is getting "Ask Maps" in Google Maps that shows you more info and acts like a FYP 1

This new feature can now take care of multi-step tasks like finding a restaurant along your route and adding your chosen dishes to the cart. Let’s say you wanted some spicy food for pickup on the way home, it can actually plan out the whole thing while delivering more context such as open hours and locations while factoring in personalized choices like favorite/saved places as well as dietary preferences.

Meanwhile, real-time hotel prices will be compared on the spot, and can be further filtered based on availability, ratings, nearby amenities, and more. If you want to, you can even find local events such as concerts and comedy shows with ticket links.

Google is also facilitating info faster through Ask Maps, as it provides live transit updates, including delays and upcoming departures, while drivers can get alerts about crashes, construction and other disruptions along their route. It can also tell users how busy a place is right now, making it easier to avoid crowds.

And if you’re the one feeling contributive, you can report changes to help other users as well with photos and videos support during edit suggestions.

As for Malaysia, it will be joining the 160+ market rollout, with real-time info, personalized responses and conversation memory getting rolled out initially. For food ordering, hotel and event discovery, and conversational contributions, these are coming at a later date.
