Alienware 13 Non-Touch Notebooks

Dell’s recent announcement on the latest and greatest Alienware products are fascinating – a new desktop, a new laptop, and a first of a kind Graphics Amplifier. It also seems like Dell is bringing the new trio to Malaysia too!

Dell Malaysia is bringing in the Alienware 13 that has an Intel Core i5 paired with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics, and varies if you opt for a quad-HD resolution and touchscreen. Claiming to be the thinnest Alienware laptop ever, this particular machine packs the beastliest hardware on a 13-inch notebook only.

The Alienware 13 is priced starting from RM3,999. Costs much less than the 3-headed snake’s fancy-looking laptop too.

If you crave more than that, then there’s perhaps the biggest, most important innovation in mobile gaming history – Dell’s Graphics Amplifier. Alienware says you can plug in whatever desktop graphic cards below 375 Watts you want on the Graphics Amplifier, then connect that to the new Alienware 13 with a single cable. Finally laptops are becoming desktop-like.

It’s like having a desktop.

Also, the Graphics Amplifier comes with 4 USB 3.0 ports. So much win for someone who uses laptops like a desktop at home. So much win. Seriously.
It is however, priced at RM1,009 (weird price!).

Alienware Area-51 DesktopThen comes Dell’s little tringular-shape desktop. Alienware finally makes a new comeback this time with their new Alienware Area-51 flagship desktop, this time with a new design too. The sides have the triangular lighting just like the all new Alienware 13 does, comes with Intel’s Haswell-E Core i7 K-series processors, liquid cooling, graphic card options for both AMD or NVIDIA, and DDR4 RAM.

Alienware claims that this triangular design improves thermal management and ergonomics, while improving the ease of access to the front and rear ports. Alienware is kind enough however to provide future upgradeability should you see fit.

The new Alienware Area-51 starts off at RM6,999, and still less expensive and more powerful than the Evil Queen’s Apple.

And oh – a little sidenote. ROCCAT has teamed up with Alienware to provide a new version of AlienFX – Alienware’s own software to customize lightings – to with most of ROCCAT’s peripherals. Certainly isn’t small news, it’s something to really be excited about as we start to see changes in the gaming hardware industry, and Alienware is making the waves.

One question here – would you buy a proprietary Graphics Amplifier-like hardware, or wait for one that supports Thunderbolt and use that instead? Or are you awaiting some of the more elegant and open-sourced solutions?
