A10 Networks has announced A10 AI Gateway, an intelligent control plane built to centrally manage AI usage across organizations and provide unified routing, cost management, and governance across the AI agents, applications, and LLMs an organization relies on, giving centralized visibility into usage, cost optimization, access control, and security.
The launch responds to a growing challenge as AI adoption accelerates across enterprises. As organizations increasingly embed AI agents and generative AI into their applications while working across multiple providers and models, it’s becoming harder to track which models are actually in use, what they cost, and whether proper governance and security controls are in place.
AI requests themselves also vary widely, ranging from simple tasks to workloads needing advanced reasoning, creating a need for a platform that can optimize performance, reduce latency, and manage costs across that range. Hence, A10 AI Gateway is built to consolidate all of that into a single management platform.
At its core, the gateway selects the appropriate AI model for each request based on its content and applicable usage policies, while centralizing visibility into usage and spending across the organization.
Specifically, Identity-based AI access syncs with existing directory systems to apply access and routing policies by user or group, letting organizations set different AI models and usage rules for different teams, such as engineering versus finance. On the other hand, Smart Routing goes beyond static routing rules by evaluating the complexity of each request, automatically sending simpler tasks to more cost-efficient models and more demanding ones to more capable models.
Centralized traffic and cost management gives organizations real-time, per-request cost tracking in dollars, per-model and per-team token budget management with hard limits and soft-limit alerts, and usage controls by key or team, aimed at giving clearer visibility into both usage and spending to support stronger governance. The gateway also integrates with A10’s existing AI security portfolio, including TrojAI, A10 AI Firewall, and ThreatX, supporting security across the full AI lifecycle from pre-deployment testing through runtime protection and network and API-level controls.
On deployment, A10 AI Gateway is available as standalone software or with integrated hardware, and can run entirely within a customer’s own environment, including on-premises, private cloud, or air-gapped setups. A10 positions this as letting organizations maintain control over their models, data, and policies while preserving data sovereignty, something it says cloud-hosted or edge-bound gateways can’t match.
A10 AI Gateway is scheduled to become available in the fourth quarter of 2026.
