Apple is giving its Mac lineup a sizeable refresh with the introduction of the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac, both powered by the company’s new M6 chip. At the same time, Apple Creator Studio is getting a major update that brings more AI-powered tools across Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro features an M6 chip with a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, and Dual 16-core Neural Engines. Compared with the previous M5 model, Apple claims up to 30% faster graphics performance and up to 25% faster performance for on-device AI workloads.

The chip also adds Neural Accelerators to every GPU core, making the MacBook Pro better suited to tasks such as running local AI models, image generation, AI upscaling and other machine-learning workloads without relying entirely on the cloud.

Memory bandwidth has also increased to as much as 170GB/s, while unified memory starts at 16GB and can be configured up to 32GB. Storage is also faster, which should make a difference when dealing with large creative projects and other data-heavy workloads.

For people coming from much older Apple Silicon machines, the jump is more dramatic. Apple says the new MacBook Pro can deliver up to 11x faster graphics and up to 13x faster AI performance compared with the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1.

The rest of the package remains very much MacBook Pro: a Liquid Retina XDR display with an optional nano-texture finish, a 12MP Center Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours, which Apple calls the longest battery life ever offered on a Mac.

Color-wise, it’s the classic Silver and Space Black taking up the spot.

The colorful 24-inch all-in-one is also getting the M6 that goes with the iconic slim design, 24-inch 4.5K Retina display and seven colour options: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

Connectivity gets a boost as well with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support, while the higher-end configuration can be equipped with 2.5Gb Ethernet and up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The 24-inch 4.5K display remains one of the iMac’s main selling points, complemented by a 12MP Center Stage camera, a three-microphone array and a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support.
