In case you don’t know, doubleTwist is a music player app for your Android phone, pretty and very simple to use with a bunch of add-on like auto-download album art and the deeply missed Cover Flow-esque now-playing list.
Having the number increased by one and most of us will automatically think that it’ll be something major, but this is disappointing – for me at least.
The update’s new Magic Radio, which is described in a way that resembles how GrooveShark works is rather redundant given there already is a virtually endless list of music-discovery software/radio. Magic Radio, as described, will have features just like how iTunes’s Genius is – takes note of what type of songs you want to discover more and then their servers will perform some magic and return the best result to you.
The big turnoff that it’s a subscription-based service, with a week of free trial and then it’s $3.99 (RM12.41) a month.
The other change is the addition of a share button to share whatever you’re listening with Facebook and Twitter integrated in this app itself but fret not – other apps are allowed too!
A small triangle-with-three-dots button at the bottom left in the “playing now” menu reveals the button for Equalizer and also an “Add Station” – presumably for the Magic Radio mentioned above.
The great feature of the Magic Radio? If you did read properly, you’ll see this.
Discover new songs by just a word or a phrase! Did anyone else made such a feature into their music discovery service yet? I think not.
