Malaysians are now going towards the era of online shopping. Back in the old days I’ve only heard my parents buying stuff on Ebay. They were kind of excited when Ebay.com.my was launched in Malaysia but unfortunately, sites like Mudah.my or Lelong.com.my still takes the lead in the online market.
Today, the online market landscape has evolved with independent online stores/retailer rising such as Lazada and IPMart. Another very huge game changer was Facebook which lets individual users sell items under their personal social media account without any charges or regulated listings. This further altered the landscape of online retailing.
The paramount thing an online customer would seek is safety, trust and privacy.
Symantec, the cyber security leader is taking a step further into the Malaysian online shopping landscape. Symantec has issued a challenge to online retailers to step up on making their online shopping experience safer. They have released an enhanced security encryption tool, Symantec SSL Assistant Plus. With their SSL Assistant Plus, online retailers would have easy access to setting up their sites to encrypt and keep their customers safe. This simplifies all of the technical process of setting up encryption mechanism, certificates and private/public keys(which only technical people maybe could have the courage to set these up before Symantec’s SSL Assistant Plus)
Just last year, the Heartbleed vulnerability was discovered which left majority of websites at risk. SSL is the very mechanism that the internet operates on today to ensure traffics are genuine and encryption from the server to the client. However, setting these up would require special skills and time consuming for causal/non-technical people. With SSL Assistant Plus, Symantec has simplified the experience of setting up encryption and delivering security in an easy way.
“It automates the entire configuration process”
Symantec SSL Assistant Plus enables website owners to use Domain Validation (DV) certificates, as well as Organization Validation (OV) and Extended Validation (EV) certificates, which verify the real organization or business behind a website. When sites also use EV certificates with SSL, shoppers will see the address bar turn green and include the site owner’s name.
Symantec SSL Assistant Plus is now available globally and all retailers or even any kind of company that has their own web hosting could contact Symantec to find out more on their great enhancement to further secure your server and your clients.
*SSL – Secure Sockets Layer is a standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a server and a client—typically a web server (website) and a browser; or a mail server and a mail client.
