Been holding back for so long for the Apple M3 chip to enter the MacBook Air? Now is the time for you to pull the trigger as the new model was released globally and for a starting price of RM5,199 in Malaysia.
Made available to both the 13-inch and 15-inch variants, the internals host a 16-core Neural Engine which is a slight upgrade from the M2 version so a fair bit of improvement in AI-related applications while the GPU now supports mesh shading and ray tracing (gaming on Mac eh).
They also come with an FHD FaceTime cam, tri-mic array, spatial audio and Dolby Atmos support – all the while staying as thin as possible to maintain that “Air” look.
Aside from having a 500 nits max Liquid Retina display, it can support dual external displays when its lid is closed as well as Wi-Fi 6E wireless connection, MagSafe charging, and 2x Thunderbolt ports.
As for charging, you’ll get a USB-C power brick at 30W for the base model of the 13-inch or if you want to upgrade for an additional fee, you can opt for either a 35-W dual port brick or a straight 70W adapter.
Need more RAM? Throw in some more $$$ for 16GB or 24GB or towards the storage that starts from 256GB/512GB and make that number 1TB or 2TB. User experience-wise, they are more or less the same as the M2 models – Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and a full-height function row.
One more thing, the battery life is said to be better now which can go up to 18 hours.
Availability
Available in colors of Starlight, Space Gray, Silver, and Midnight which now has an anodization seal that is semi-fingerprint-resistant, the new M3 MacBook Air starts from RM5,199 and RM6,199 for the 13-inch and 15-inch respectively.
A side note though, the M2 13-inch version has its price brought down to start from RM4,799 so if you don’t mind that then feel that to cop one of the old stocks.
