Yes, that’s right. Apple is literally upgrading or at least changing their existing products to have USB-C port. I mean, everything else from Apple are already using USB-C. It only makes sense for Apple to move everything to USB-C since the iPhone is changing anyway.
They did announce that the AirPods – both wired and wireless versions – are going to be using USB-C too. I’m glad Apple didn’t forget about the wired version because I absolutely love the design of that pair of earbuds.
What’s interesting is that I am glad Apple didn’t just talk about how they “revolutionized” the iPhone by using USB-C and just said that they’re all USB-C now.
What’s interesting is that Apple also mentioned Qi 2, the Wireless Power Consortium’s version of MagSafe. Even though no products currently utilize Qi 2, Apple’s recognition hints at their readiness to embrace advancements in wireless charging.
I’m looking forward to how other companies play around with Qi 2, honestly. There are already so many MagSafe accessories available today, having everyone to play nice with this magnificent feature will definitely be great for consumers.
