Apple has once again set the bar high with the release of the eagerly awaited Apple Watch Series 9. This latest addition to the Apple Watch lineup comes packed with innovative features and enhancements that are sure to impress. Not gonna lie, I really want that Double Tap gesture on my watch too.
Watch Series 9
The new Apple Watch Series 9 comes with on-device Siri with Neural Engine and that means the watch can process your voice commands quickly and works even without your phone or internet connectivity.
Apple has introduced an exciting new gesture for the Series 9 – the Double Tap. By simply tapping your index and thumb twice, you can effortlessly trigger a range of actions. Whether it’s playing or pausing music, answering calls, or remotely activating your iPhone’s camera, the Double Tap gesture adds a whole new level of convenience to your smartwatch experience. Interestingly, this feature was previously tucked away in the accessibility menu but is now front and center for all users to enjoy.
All of these features are thanks to the new Apple Silicon chip for the watch. Yes, the Series 9 is using the new S9 SiP (System-in-a-Package) chip that delivers a bunch of different enhancements – and that means a smoother and more responsive user experience.
In a noteworthy move towards sustainability, Apple has opted for a leather-less design for the Series 9. They’ve introduced a new FineWoven material for the watch straps that showcases their commitment to environmentally friendly materials.
Apple Watch Ultra 2
Surprisingly, Apple introduced the new Watch Ultra 2 as well. There aren’t that many differences here and there as far as I can see, but there are some improvements here and there.
Watch Series 9 SE
Series 9 SE has also been announced but no further details were shown or mentioned.
