Dell has officially lifted the news on its take on the XPS family of elegant, every day, and possibly business-friendly laptops by announcing classical revamps and brand-new sizes.
Let’s go through the naming scheme first. For one, the XPS 13 Plus is no longer the “Plus” and will just become XPS 13. For two, the new sizes mentioned just now are the XPS 14 and XPS 16 which is great news for those craving larger keyboard and screen estate.
All 3 models now share a fairly simple yet robust design with CNC aluminum chassis and Gorilla Glass 3 for additional protection to go with the tone-on-tone colors of Graphite and Platinum.
They also get a glass touchpad with haptic feedback, larger keycaps to keep keystrokes clean and actuating properly, plus a dedicated touch-based FN key to switch between media and Function layers.
Aside from that, the new InfinityEdge screen offers Variable Refresh Rates, high resolution, accurate colors, and Dolby Vision in addition to optional OLED touch variants where the final choices are FHD+, QHD+ touch, and 3K OLED touch. The quad-speaker array supporting Dolby Audio and 3D MaxxAudio Pro by Waves stereo surround will be handling the audio department while the 1080p webcam captures you in fine detail.
Now let’s talk computing hardware. As all of you might know, the latest Team Blue-equipped models are fitted with the ‘Meteor Lake’ mobile CPUs with onboard Intel Arc GPU (Well, most of them with selected exceptions in the lower range) and NPU for AI inferencing and acceleration of various generative applications like Microsoft Copilot and Stable Diffusion.
Specific differences mostly aim for the GPU section where the XPS 16 can go up to GeForce RTX 4070 while the XPS 14 stays for the RTX 4050 instead (This one’s optional though). Therefore, those with specific GPU processing needs can get them as they need.
The ExpressCharge fast charge protocol is here to stay too, providing 80% battery with an hour of charging.
