Video editors and sound engineers rejoice. Apple has finally made Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro available on the iPad.
In this version, users can utilize the new all-touch interface and intuitive tools to make the entire editing process much smoother. For example, Live Drawing provides you the ability to draw and write directly on top of a clip using Apple Pencil.
On iPad Pro with M2, one may even quickly skim and preview footage through Pencil alone without even touching the screen.
Through Camera Pro Mode, video content creators can easily shoot high-quality video in portrait or landscape, monitor audio, and manually control various settings. Supporting ProRes.3 for additional format support, multicam video editing can easily synchronize multiple clips together or even switch angles.
AI power also graces the iPad application through the power of machine learning providing features like Scene Removal Mask, Auto Crop, and Voice Isolation.
For the audio editing software Logic Pro, similar optimizations for touch-based inputs have been given to it as well. As for a brand new feature, now there’s a Sound Browser that shows all sorts of patches, plug-ins, samples, and more, under a single location for easy browsing and discovery.
Users can also expect highly streamlined processes such as Multi-Touch enabling several play surfaces to be executed at once and Sample Alchemy which can make any sample into a wonderous piece in just a single tap.
And yes, all of those things you’ve enjoyed on the MacOS version can also be accessed here.
Price and Availability
Thought you can get it right away? Heck no. But you will be able to starting from May 24 onwards. Both the Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad will become accessible for RM22.90 per month or RM199 per year with a 1-month free trial.
But it is not all sunshine and rainbows though as Final Cut Pro is only compatible with models using M1 or later while Logic Pro requires at least A12 Bionic or newer variants.
And yes, you need iPadOS 16.4 on top of the hardware requirement.
