The 7th edition of the Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 event closed its curtain earlier this week with visitors and exhibitors from all around the world gathered together for tech showcase, contact exchanges, and just a general good vibe within the industry.

Hosted a record-breaking 2,300 booths, over 650 domestic and international organizations are part of the event that facilitated discussions between potential business deals and matchmaking sessions among hospital directors.

The event itself also carries the Taiwanese government’s focus on the medical industry which can be greatly optimized or innovated with the power of AI from everyday hassle work like report generation and appointment reminders to groundbreaking discovery of new drugs and techniques that could solve the “unsolvable” issues of the past.

The Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI)’s President, Wong Chi-Huey, credits the exhibition’s success to Taiwan’s ability to combine robust healthcare quality and facilities with innovative technology via the SNQ certification and endorsement – a yearly process that recognizes healthcare teams influencing global treatment guidelines and enhancing healthcare quality.

IBMI Vice President Barry Lam Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 (1)

Barry Lam, Vice President of IBMI, also chimed in to give some of his thoughts that revolved around the cross-disciplinary cooperation platform leading to technological advancements in medical and health applications.

With the goal of becoming the peak in terms of global AI smart healthcare, the expo is only a tip (or a part I guess) of the iceberg because IBMI has another expo in the planning as of now which is almost the same but tailored towards elder care and hospitality.

The new event is scheduled for December 5 to 8 next year as of now.

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-Wen Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2023 (1)

Current President Tsai Ing-wen also gave a speech, praising Taiwan’s strong stance and prowess in IT, healthcare, and clinical expertise alongside biomedical innovation and precision healthcare since 2016.

The enactment of the ‘Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Development Act’ last year also showed the government’s willingness to venture into critical areas in regenerative medicine, precision medicine, and digital healthcare.

Increased incentives for contract manufacturers in the biotechnology sector are also part of the cabinet’s effort to make sure that the projected market value of NTD1 trillion can be achieved.
