Huawei just had their keynote over at London where they announced and showed off the all new Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and unexpectedly, the Huawei Mate 20 X. Huawei also announced the new Huawei Watch GT which has some interesting technology in it.

Let’s talk about it one by one.

Huawei Mate 20

The all new Mate 20 has a 6.5-inch screen with 18.5:9 aspect ratio with 1080p resolution with a notch. The screen is actually reminiscent of the waterdrop notch that we’ve seen in the OPPO F9.

The all new Mate 20 also comes with a 4,000mAh battery but without wireless charging. Interestingly, Huawei’s SuperCharge charger is getting an upgrade and it will now output a total of 40W.

Obviously, the Mate series will also be the first smartphone in Huawei’s portfolio to use their latest and greatest chipset – this time the Kirin 980 with dual NPU. We’ll need that because…

… the Huawei Mate 20 also comes with a total of 3 cameras at the back. The configuration is rather intriguing as well. There’s a 12MP main camera, 8MP telephoto camera with 2x zoom, and one more 16MP ultra wide-angle camera.

With the new dual-NPU, Huawei’s Master AI can now recognize 24 scenes. Moreover, there’s a brand new “4D predictive focus” where it will “motion track” the subject and keep the subject in focus.

With the help of dual NPU, Huawei is also releasing the new app called HiVision – it’s essentially Google Lens but made by Huawei to utilize the dual NPU and to utilize the cameras to capture food, where it’ll automatically recognize the food and its calories. Then, this data is integrated into the health tracker.

It also comes with AI Cinema Mode where it will record the video in 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio and have real-time filters such as – fresh, nostalgia, hitchcock, portrait bokeh, AI portrait color. Of course, there’s something called AI video zoom as well.

The back glass of the Mate 20 is interesting as well – it has a glazed glass where Huawei claimed to provide an even better grip compared to the usual smooth glass back surfaces.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

On top of what’s already found and built into the Huawei Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro has a 6.5-inch screen – which is surprisingly smaller than the Mate 20 – but has a resolution of 3120×1440.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

It comes packed with a 4,200mAh battery and has wireless charging of up to 15W as well. Not only that – the Mate 20 Pro can also do reverse wireless charge other devices. Not sure why they want to do this, but it’s there.

Other than that, the Mate 20 Pro also has an in-screen fingerprint sensor, which means the Mate 20 Pro’s display is indeed an AMOLED screen.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Of course, the Mate 20 Pro also has the same triple camera setup as the Mate 20 but the resolutions are different. The Mate 20 Pro has a 40MP main camera, a 20MP ultra wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom.

Obviously the Mate 20 Pro also has the aforementioned features in the Mate 20 – Huawei’s Master AI can now recognize 24 scenes. and the new “4D predictive focus” where it will “motion track” the subject and keep the subject in focus.

Huawei Mate 20 X

Unexpectedly, there’s one more device in the Mate 20 series – and that’s the Mate 20 X. This new phone is once again equipped with what the Mate 20 has, but with a few major differences.

The Mate 20 X is equipped with a 7.2-inch OLED display with a 18.7:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop notch at the top. It also has a massive 5,000mAh battery built in, but that’s not all.

Huawei Mate 20 X

As for the triple camera on the Mate 20 X, it comes with a 40MP main camera, a 20MP wide-angle camera, and another 8MP telephoto camera.

Huawei Mate 20 X

Perhaps to rival with the Galaxy Note9, the Mate 20 X comes with another new feature – which Huawei is called the new M Pen. This new active stylus has a few features such as intelligent writing, double click, and also quick memo.

Huawei Mate 20 X

Apparently, the Huawei Mate 20 X is a gaming smartphone as well, since it has a new cooling technology. How well is this compared to the ASUS ROG Phone remains to be seen.

The Mate 20 X is available in glazed back as well.

Huawei Watch GT

The new iteration of Huawei Watch has arrived and it is packed with a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen and made out of 316L stainless steel. The new Huawei Watch GT has multi-activity mode, ranging from indoor/outdoor, trail running/climbing, cycling, swimming, sleep, and daily activity tracking.

Huawei Watch GT

The new Watch GT is equipped with Huawei TruSeen which is self-learning and improves itself for better tracking.

Not only that, but the new Huawei Watch GT will also be equipped with 3 location tracking systems – GPS, GLONASS, and GALILEO.

Huawei Watch GT

Huawei touts that the Huawei Watch GT can have its battery last for 2 weeks with 90 minutes of exercise per week. How do they achieve this? By having a dual chipset design.

Huawei Watch GT

It’s something similar to smartphone chipsets where there are 4 high-performance cores and 4 low-powered cores. For the Watch GT, Huawei implemented a high-speed chip and also another low-speed chip to segregate the tasks.
