LG has released a statement that they are closing down their mobile phone business globally.
According to them, the closure of the mobile sector lets them focus on other areas of expertise like IoT, EVs, and B2B solutions. In an easier way to understanding this, they just don’t have the competitive advantage in the current era of the smartphone war anymore.
Needless to say that from today onwards, no new mobile phone-related products will be making a debut but existing software updates and customer support alongside warranty programs will continue while all currently available stocks in the market globally will be the last batch of all. Lastly, all employees working in that division will be moved to other departments accordingly.
I for one have been using one of their PDAs back around 10 years ago. It was the first time I’ve experienced a pen-supported device with nothing but a flat-screen.
