For all Apple users out there – I’m pretty sure you know the familiar feel of damaged Apple hardware and the cost to replace them. I mean seriously, some of the cost to fix up older iPhones costs as much as a new budget Android smartphone! Fret not – Machines Protection Plan, or MPP for short, is here to save your iDevices. With some extra surcharge, of course.

The entire plan is simple – it works like an extended warranty for your iDevices, and it allows a one-time screen replacement or one-time full device replacement during the 2-year coverage period. The Machines Protection Plan price ranges from RM299 to RM899, depending on what device you have.

Take it as an insurance plan for your iDevice. You pay extra upfront to get your device protected, and if things happened, you get it replaced. Machines has selected Aon Insurance Brokers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Aon Malaysia) as its insurance broker to offer this device protection plan, underwritten by AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad.

Of course, there are terms and conditions when it comes to claiming your warranty. For example, for an iPhone SE full device replacement, customers will need to pay a service fee of RM299 on top of the iPhone SE MPP cost of RM299.

You can learn more about it here.

Machines Protection Plan

You can get the Machines Protection Plan from any Machines store near you, actually.

Cheng explained that the MPP will help relieve the cost of repairing or replacing damaged mobile devices that needs to be borne by customers. “We are also working on extending the MPP to include new devices purchased from third-party sources such as telcos.”
Perhaps there will be new marketing tactics by telcos on which one offers better prices and warranty?

Also, perhaps something similar to Macs and MacBooks in the near future? Seriously these laptops are great – but they’re also expensive to have its parts replaced. Especially since the MacBooks have parts soldered on it. Soldered SSDs aren’t fun.
