Qualcomm has announced a plethora of new offerings and breakthroughs at MWC 2024 event so let me give you a brief explanation of each of them.
First, we have the Qualcomm AI Hub that basically acts as the central library for anything under the Qualcomm or Snapdragon branding that can run AI inferencing.
Containing more than 75 pre-optimized AI models, they want to focus on making on-device AI integration quick, easy, and efficient without compromising privacy and personalization features.
They are not gatekeeping the models though as you can also find the models on Hugging Face and GitHub so that’s pretty cool for all the devs.
Cloud platforms powered by Qualcomm hardware can also deploy these models with full compatibility.
Next, we have the Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF system that is currently the bleeding edge of the 5G modem-to-antenna platform thanks to the breakthrough in incorporating NB-NTN satellite communications support.
It also contains a dedicated tensor accelerator to allow AI algorithms to take care of things like throughput, QoS, coverage, latency, spectrum and power efficiency, and mmWave beam management.
Scaling things down a bit and we have the Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 dedicated to serving all sorts of non-cellular wireless connections.
This one solution is capable of serving Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and Ultra Wideband within a single chip. Thanks to AI enhancement, it can adapt to all sorts of use cases that prioritize secure device discovery, access, and control with ease.
Qualcomm is also going for some of the LLM pie but switching it up with a Large Multimodal Model (LMM) that can deal with multiple types of inputs such as text and images and inference through its 7B parameter model, all within an Android phone.
Fancy some image generation? You can do so with Stable Diffusion for Android through Low Rank Adaptation while the same Android experience can be expanded on PC with additional voice input support.
Here are some other key solutions revealed:
- Qualcomm 5G Fixed Wireless Access Ultra Gen 3 Platform
- Qualcomm Infrastructure Processors
- Snapdragon Auto Connectivity Platform with Wi-Fi 7
