Samsung Malaysia has announced the new Galaxy SmartTag2 which is smarter and better will be arriving next week.

One of the newly added features for the SmartTag2 is Lost Mode, a “fill in contact information and save it” kind of passive function that lets anyone with a smartphone scan the tag and find out who’s the owner which will be especially useful for tracking pets who just like to wander around the neighborhood.

The improved Compass View allows users to more accurately track the direction and distance of the lost item in relation to the supported smartphone with UWB enabled (like the Galaxy S23 Ultra).

The device itself can now go into Power Saving Mode for the best battery life possible with up to 700 days of operation time while Normal Mode nets you about 500 days

Samsung also took the chance to update the SmartThings app now automatically generating a home icon for each unique registered SmartTag2 in addition to optimized interface and full-screen map view for better overall user experience.

Samsung also made sure that at any time when you switch to another Galaxy smartphone, everything will be carried over since the data is stored in your Samsung account.

Other notable features include ‘Unknown Tag Alerts’ alerting users of unauthorized tags in close proximity, integration with all SmartThings-compatible appliances for easier tag detection, out-of-range notification, and more.

Availability

Samsung Malaysia will start selling the Galaxy SmartTag2 beginning October 11.
