In an unexpected turn of events, Samsung Electronics published an article on their official newsroom that states they’ve validated their newest and fastest LPDDR5X DRAM that reaches up to 10.7Gb/s using MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 chipset. This is very interesting indeed, as DRAM is going to be a key factor in enabling on-device AI features to work quickly and efficiently.
The 10.7Gb/s operation speed verification is done on a LPDDR5X 16GB DRAM package. Samsung also claims that this is going to enable 25% improved power consumption and performance compared to the previous generation. This will allow better battery life on mobile devices while enabling better on-device AI performance without requiring internet access – and further boosting data privacy.
Now, for those who are enthusiasts in the PC DIY market will know that Samsung’s DRAM modules are one of the best available in the market today – and for them to come out with the industry’s fastest 10.7Gb/s LPDDR5X DRAM is no surprise. What’s surprising is that this is validated using the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset.

There are already a bunch of rumors saying that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 series of tablets and the Galaxy S25 series will be using MediaTek chipsets. We’re not sure how true this is, but for Samsung to outright publish this in their newsroom does raise some suspicion.
Samsung stated that the two companies have closely collaborated to complete the verification within just three months – and I do expect there are more collaborations other than this.
