Your neighborhood sundry shop or cooperative could soon be taking online orders thanks to Shopee’s latest commitment to this support, done in partnership with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP).
This new movement allows local retailers and cooperatives in KUSKOP’s network to be on Shopee Instant Mart. It was announced at Hari Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil 2026 at Stadium Kajang, an event officiated by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and attended by Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Steven Sim Chee Keong and other government representatives.
Participating retailers offer ready-stock items from their physical stores, such as groceries and medical supplies, to online customers. The retailer prepares the order, and delivery partners pick it up and deliver eligible orders within one to four hours, depending on outlet availability and service coverage. That gives shops another sales channel without needing new inventory, and gives shoppers faster access to everyday essentials.
The two sides split the work. KUSKOP handles ground-level engagement, identifying eligible small businesses and cooperatives, helping them onboard, and offering guidance. Shopee contributes its digital ecosystem and rider network so those retailers can reach a much wider customer base.
Minister Sim said digitalization should help local retailers build on the strengths of their physical stores, giving them another way to serve their communities and stay competitive as shopping habits change. Opal Wu, Shopee Malaysia’s Director of Revenue and New Business, said local businesses need to adapt to stay part of customers’ shopping routines, and that the collaboration builds on retailers’ existing customer relationships.
Shopee Instant Mart launched earlier this year and remains open to physical stores and retail outlets that meet basic program requirements, such as product weight and dimension criteria.
